The Heritage District is the oldest part of town: brick streets and tall pecans around Heritage Park, the Heritage House, and the Trinity Railway Express stop at Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing. Houses off South Main Street, Rock Island Road and the alleys behind Irving Boulevard date from the 1920s through the 1950s, and many still have a detached garage at the back of the lot or a single-car opening on a narrow alley.
